Task at Hand

Cipla Ltd, one of the leading global pharmaceutical companies, wanted to paint one oftheir facilities, Unit Number 3, that was constructed around 2 to 3 years ago. They wanted to complete all the required work before the proposed US FDA audit. Initially, they used the Apex brand of paints for this facility as well as for units number 1 and 2 but they wanted some extra elastomeric property as well a waterproof coat that brand didn't provide. They wanted some protective coating that will protect against carbonation and leakages while exhibiting properties of normal decorative paint. Cipla officials acceptedthe use of DCP products on their 3rd unit and added projects that include work on crack sealing, waterproofing, wall coating, painting, and more.

During this time we approached them with our specialized DCP protective coating systems and explained to them the various advantages and techno-commercial feasibility which can be obtained with the use of this high performance DCP protective coating product system, Our applicator, M/s S M Shinde (HUF), also shared their experience with use of DCP productsin their past projects. DCP offered them a variety of products as solutions.

Cipla officials were impressed with our product systems, references and track record, they decided to use DCP products for the proposed work at Unit Number 3 and accordingly they allocated work to our authorized applicator, M/s S M Shinde (HUF).

DCP Solution

DCP offered solutions using different DCP products for the various projects that needed to be done in Unit Number 3. For wall coating, a single component acrylic based elastomeric waterproof coating product, Aquaguard, was used in various colours (antique white and sandstone) as per US FDA PHARMA AUDIT NORMS. Aquaguard was chosen because it contains the waterproofing property necessary and acts as decorative coating as well.

For sealing the window joints, elastomeric single component polyurethane sealant Flexseal PU440 was recommended and used. For terrace waterproofing, white coloured Aquaguard was used. Aquaguard can be used as a primer and so it is applied as a first coat. A geo-textile mesh layer is then embedded as reinforcement over the first coat of Aquaguard, then a second coat of Aquaguard is applied with the total thickness of the waterproofing coat being 1.5 mm. For exterior crack seal ing, the solution offered was the use of Flexseal GA700, a single component acrylic based elastomeric UV resistant acrylic putty, before applying the protective coating.
