DCP Participates in the Khtwati Initiative in Jordan

During the past month, DCP has been honored to be involved in the voluntary community project the Khtwati Initiative, a social initiative that aims at improving and up-lifting the educational and learning environment at the public schools of Jordan. It was initiated jointly by parliament member Mr. Khamees Atieh in cooperation with Senate Mrs. Haifa Al Najjar and adopted by a group of experts and activists who are concerned about educational issues and have high sensitivity towards schools’ essential needs.

DCP volunteered to work on Ein Jalout Secondary School for Girls in Amman, Jordan. For one month, DCP donated material and labour to work on repairing three bathrooms, one for teachers and two for students, that had cracks in the masonry, leaking drainage systems that led to water ponding and mould creation, water supply systems installed over tiling, and Arabic style toilets.

DCP was able to repair all three bathrooms by filling all cracks with mortar that was reinforced with our Vitrulan reinforcing mesh. DCP also installed totally new drainage and water supply systems underneath the tiles, added seated style toilets, installed porcelain tiles using our Cemfix 2CS tile adhesive for fixation over walls in a tile-over-tile application, while using our Cemafill GP for tile grouting, and upgraded old hand washers and faucets. In addition, DCP fixed and painted all of the old doors and walls.

We would like to thank the Khtwati Initiative for allowing DCP to be part of this community project so we can help in improving Jordan’s public schools.
